hi guys,
just come across a first time problem. i have a new spotted hatchy from the expo and it has been eating fine since i got it and had a shed. however just then and last week it refused to eat. this is the first time i have experienced this with a snake as my carpets just demolish anything in their wake.

the hatchy is showing a firm interest in the pinky mouse and will follow it around flicking its tongue but it wont strike. i have tried harassing the snake a bit with the mouse and got a few defensive strikes out but it just wont take it and hold on. i have left the mouse in the enclosure over night.

temps are fine, sitting at 31C at the moment, water bowl, plenty of hides.

im not panicking just yet as i know snakes can go a long while off food and the cold weather may have something to do with it. im guessing that the snake is on my desk next to my computer and a yearling carpet.. maybe its feeling threatened by me and the other snake?

anyway any thoughts or tips would be great, thanks heaps

ash.

thoughts.. daylight hours are shorter.. so its preparing for colder temps, even though the cold is not yet there.. maybe try a day/night light (or a lamp on a timer just outside the enclosure will do). i wouldnt stress.. my jungle hasnt eaten in two weeks either.. i think the day/night cycle has just hit that point now. im about to put him into an enclosure with a 10hr UV cycle and am hoping this will boost his feeding response in about a week.
