I have a spotted python and lately when i feed him two thirds of the time he regurgitates his food sometimes up to 3 days later. only started this in the last two months or so before that all was good. he started this with fuzzies and asked pet shop and was told not to feed fuzzy rats so now on hopper mice. first one was fine last two it has regurgitated and left.any idea why cheers scott

Why did they say no fuzzy rats?
How old and how long?
The temps maybe a liitle to low for digestion so up it comes.
What temp is he at?

how long have u had it ? are u leaving it a couple of days before handling it , the list can go on and on . we need more like temps and that.

they said that he needed more bone structure in his food and that hopper mice were better for him and the temps are around 23 coolest spot on the floor of the cage and 29 on basking log under heat lamp. my tank is 45cm cube with no heat mat. i actually dont handle the snake much at all and never after feeding. he is around 60cm long and i have had him about 6 months.

Im not sure what temps macs are kept at but i have coastals they are at about 32 no feeding problems try smaller rats how are you offering them

cool looks like a temp problem will give that a go thank you everyone for your help and ideas cheers scott

Like people have stated it depends on many factors.
The temps definately sound a couple of degrees to low especially since you said this has only started over the last few months which is roughly when the cooler weather started. Meaning the enclosure wont hold the heat as efficiently as in the warmer weather due to the cooler outside air surrounding the enclosure.
Another possibility is that the meal size may be a little to large. This may also be a factor if you have been feeding the same size offering for a while with sucess, but now the ambient temp is cooler the enclosure may not be holding heat aswell as it did during the warmer months meaning the snake will regurgitate the food as it cannot source the heat required to proprly digest.
Start with what people have suggested and up the hot end to 32-33 and observe the snake for a week or so to get an understanding of what it wants. This will become obvious if the animal spends more time at the hot end meaning its heat it is sourcing.Same with if the animal spends most of its time at the cooler end etc etc.
