hi , i have fairy recently aquired a pair of central netted dragons and the female appears to be star-gazing. Her head and neck point straight up. i have read about this in snakes but never in lizards. has anyone have information on this?

That sounds like a very typical stance in dragons, but of course if its something you've never really noticed before, it might be a good idea to get her checked over by a reptile vet. In other animals this behaviour can indicate a middle ear infection, or injury to their neck or spine, or pinched nerve. Watch her balance, too. If she appears to be leaning to one side, or a little off balance, definitely get her checked out.

Are you sure there isn't a bug on the roof of the cage, or something catching her attention or just soaking up the warmth knowing the air temps are getting cooler. I have a bungy jumping ackie - I finally realised there was a tiny cockroach on the roof and he was trying to get it.

Hello

Hello,

I agree, if that behavior persists, I would take him to the vet. It could indicate a viral or bacterial infection, or could be something as simple as dehydration too.
What type of lighting are you using?
Is he off balanced at all?

Nah, this is not normal behaviour i have 4 other netteds and none of them do this. she loses her balance and goes around in circles then regains herself and can walk around. The only prob is the nearest vet that would even have a clue about such matters is close to 6 hrs away...i will try to get some pics to show u guys. I am using dicroich downlights atm. how would i go about checking for RI?
thanks

I agree that you should find a vet. Calcium/ UV deficiency problems can also cause neurological problems such as the ones that you have described, have you been supplementing her regularly?
