Hey,
Today i have noticed my male Stimsons python opening his mouth as wide as he can (like he's yawning) and making a weird lil' sound.
I have never seen or heard him do this ever in the 2+yrs that ive owned him.
Whats he doing and his he ok?
Thanks.

Bates - ...sounds suspiciously like RI to me. I had a Diamond many years ago with the same symptoms, it was RI. Apparently it eases some of the discomfort for them to stretch it out...

yeah, i have a stimmy and when i first got him i noticed condensation in his tub of a morn. i would get him out and handle him 4 a bit and those symptoms would come on. i thought it might b an ri so i gave him a much smaller water dish (an upside down coke bottle cap) to reduce the humidity and the symptoms cleared in about a week.

Ive continued to keep an eye on him but he hasnt done it since that day. If it was RI, wouldnt he be doing it all the time?

i found that my stimmy only had symptoms when he used energy (like cruising around when handled). it was like he got short of breath quickly. if in early stages symptoms might not b severe, therefore, not apparent all the time. being a desert snake humidity seems 2 knock them around. just keep ur eye on the humidity i guess. c if that helps. hope he's all good mate
