Luckily there are a few companies that specialise in artificial diets for reptile, unfortunately they are all outside of Australia. An example of artificial diets outperforming natural diets is the one produced for feeding crested geckos. T-rex(company) produced an artificial diet for these geckos a few years ago, there was a lot of scheptisism about it but it has gotten so popular that most breeders only feed these lizards this mixture. I am sure that with a bit of research this could be done for Molochs too. Its a great age to keep reptiles in!!! Most of the artificial diets on the market these days are good enough to maintain reptiles on them with very little other sources of food. This might be a controversial topic though as usual!!

it would definatly be an interesting lizard to keep.

What are your thoughts on the fatty pertruison coming out of their head. Is it a false head ? defensive mechanism... Anyone heard any diffenet?
Cheers. Lance.

Yeah, fat storage. Like a camel's hump. When the pickings are lean they survive on the fat reserves.

At least, that's what I've heard. Can't be bothered trying to find a reference for it at this time of night.

:p

The lump mainly acts as a fake head . When the Devil is attacked it tucks it s head between the forelegs. The hump then acts as a false head It will break off but wont grow back....Last resort safety device!
