G'day guys, got a daimond (couple of years old, about 3 - 4 foot long). got her off a mate because she was looking unhealthy and going down hill fast... it had cloudy eyes and looked like she needed to shed - the end of her tail (6-8 inches of) looked hard and crusty, kinda peeling at parts, and the skin/skales under the bad skin didn't look well either. there is also a few white yucky patches on her back. as soon as she was introduced into the new environment she drank heaps of water. now is starting to shed, skin is coming of in pieces and is very dry, skin has come off past the white patches, and the patches are still there. i'll post a pic soon.

any help would be appreciated.
thanx.

ps: i think the white looks like a burn, and the tail looks rotten...? but i'm certainly no expert...

it could even be some kind of scale rot, depending on what kind of environment it was in?
and i'd be going to a vet first thing monday morning if i were you

did she shed past the white patches? or around them?
the white could be retained shed.... or as you said a burn....

white patches

she shed past the white patches, they got a little less white. she was in a wooden vavarium, with a perspex front window, water on one side, heat light on the other - setup was a good size for this snake. no bedding though, just some rocks and sticks with a small hollow log right in the middle that she could hide in occasionally.

she acts fine, not to slow, not to defensive, and looks great under the old skin (about half of her is clean, half peeling.)

I'll get the pictures up as soon as i can

Was there covers on the heat lights? that could explain the burns, doesnt sound like its a humidity issue
I'd still take to the vet, but it doesnt sound too serious, hopefully just external

sounds like the water in the old setup was bad, they won't drink rotten/stale water. I would soak her in a bucket of warm water about 30c for 1-2 hrs it will help the old skin to come off and will help rehydrate her as well. But it would be well worth a visit to a good reptile vet as well asap.
