ok. so woke up to #4 finally out.. and my heart sunk. i think he is slighty deformed?
He seems a big disproportionate? As in head & neck... and lower tail are tiny, yet the middle is fat. Can this normal?
attached a photo but its not the most helpful in explaining it
maybe i am exagerating and he will be ok, but thought i see what you think?

he also has this fleshing bit attached, kinda like umbilical cord, but now thinking its something to do with his hemi after reading thisi in another thread..
unfort u cannot see in the attached photo.. but will try gettin a clearer shot tonight.

I havnt had to deal with this prob in snakes, but have had a similar issue with an exposed penis in one of our other animals.

The probs can occur if the tissue swells, or bloodflow is restricted to the area.

If the hemi starts to dry out, you could use sterile saline solution to keep it a bit more moist, until someone with exp of this prob in hatchies can advise you.

so this tissue swells, bloodflow restriction might explain it???
if so.. will he be ok?

The middle section could be fat due to it holding a reserve of yolk as many do, ie food supply

WELL.... so far all is good.
Basically he hadnt absorbed the yoke properly and the stomach closing up etc.
so it was a kind of umbilical cord hangin out.
The vet was going to tie it up so that over some time it would die and drop off
but when she went to tie it, it fell off and the snake tensed up and fat started coming out of his tummy. :(
So she stitched it up right away (2 stitches) and got an antibiotic injection.. and will get a few over the next 1-2 weeks.

poor lil thing. first day into the world has been so traumatic.
he was so well behaved tho!...

I DID GET PICS at the vets.. so will post up tonight.

before and after photos as promissed

Well done ! ---- & here's hoping :)

Must have been born with a wooden spoon in it's mouth poor little thing. To go through all that when you've just entered the world, just isn't fair. I sincerely hope the little blighter recovers well and has a long and healthy life.

#4 is doin ok

but had another terrible morning..
#5 also came out of shell this morning with the same problem, only just the hole.
so off to the vet again for stitches.

Twice now must mean i am doin something wrong :(
Any idea why this is happening?

Just a congenital disorder by the sounds.. Probably nothing to do with you.

i wonder if the fact the mother stopped sitting on them about 2 weeks from hatching. does this happen often?
so to counteract this i just kept them at a constant 31-32 degs as you would when artificially incubating them.

Great work looking after the little guys!! they are very sweet and are lucky to have such a observent and caring owner. Hope it all ends well and they live happily ever after!

^ it is part of the yoke that hasn't been absorbed.
i actually found this ancient thread that looks like a case of the same problem..

So far they seem happy and will just keep up the bedadine & antibiotic injections (how insanely tiny is the needle!)

we named them today..
#4 - Yuuki (japanese for courage)
#5 - Seppaku (my husbands sick sense of humour! lol)

there is 1.. possibly 2 eggs left to hatch... but starting to think i have lost them.
It has pipped its own egg a couple days ago, so I peered in the one i could and i see the snake fully developed but no movement.
Will leave for now but how long before i should give up? (first one came out on the 28th)

This can be fairly normal and after a few more clutches you will see a bit more of this. There is no need for stitches they heal on there own. The umbilical attachment is usually due to a short incubation time (the snake leaving the egg a bit early) in my experience.
