Hey i have just purchased 2 hatchlings a childrens python and a blonde mac a few weeks ago. Just setting up the enclosures bit by bit as they will still be in there click clacks for a while. Just wanted to no what bulbs and wataged is needed for my 2 enclosures they are 600x600x600.
Thanks

Make sure you have light cages. My Antaresia love to climb over anything and everything at night. You don't need a UV light, but a fluro helps you see them during the day if you want that. They will still follow the natural light cycle (mine do) and probably quit eating in winter.

i have 2 light fittings in both. i just wanted to no wat should i use for the hot end and for the cool end

Yea im goin to get cages thanks

if you need to you can always use the 25w in summer and up it to 40w in winter if it's too cool. oh and you can get the blue globes in bunnings for about $1.80 each

oh ok because i went into kellyville pets on the weekend and the guy told me to put a 100w red heat bulb in the hot end and a 100w retile light bulb for the cool end i thouht that was to much.

no it's not.....not if you want baked python for tea

wouldn't a 100w red be the same as a 100w reptile light it's still 100w?;)

my local breeder only uses 2x25w blue globes in all his enclosures and if it's good enough for him after 20 years it's good enough for me :)

Haha thats what i thought  i thought that was to much thats why i thought i would get some more advise. So you just put 2 25w blue bulbs in each enclosure?

I found Kellyville Pets to be expensive soit will be worth your while looking around. I have a Stimsons python with only a heat lamp at one end. Don't think you need anythign at the other except the flouro. the important thing is to give them a gradient so they can escape the heat when they want.

My little girl uses the whole of her enclosure and even lies up against the glass at the front during summer so we get to see her alot.

Enjoy.:p

yep 2 x 25w you can always use 1 40 and 1 25 if you have too,, I also have a fluro on in the day time, it can be a compact one or a batton, but that's just me so I can see them better:) it looks more like day light then too.

are the fitting together on a thermostat? or 2 different switches?

Ok thanks

i think what the guy at kellyville pet was saying was to use the red globe as ur night heat as snakes cant see red light and the reptile light say your day light. their both 100w so they will give the same heat out. if you set both lights up on timers so when night (red) light turns off the day (white) will turn on. if this dosent explain things just pm me

that makes sense, but you would need 2 thermostats to set it up like that and I think even 100w on it's own sound a lot for a 60 x60 ;)
