    A small problem

As most relocators can probably admit, no one ever calls up saying that have a snake in their house/yard/car but its ok, they will watch it, just finish your cup of tea and then pop out when you have a moment. It's usually either panicky voices of mums accompanied by the shrieks and yells of...

Is the use of latin names in posts always necessary?

I am not that versed in what I assume are Latin names for snakes and lizards and after reading replies to some posts over the last few years I felt it would be a good question. Why do some people tend to use Latin names when replying to posts that have been using common names, eg: rattling off 8...

    snake holes??

:|Howdy herpers! :) I've just been out the front and found two burrow looking holes in my front lawn, about four feet apart from each other. Way too small to be rabbit holes or something. They almost look like big yabbie holes. And although I do live near the river, its a good 1.5km from my...

    Keeping RBBS - venom question

Hi, I am thinking about getting a Red-Bellied black snake. I have worked with them (and all other venomous snakes) before, but I have not owned one myself. I am really hands on with my reptiles, and I don't want a display snake. My only question regarding keeping one, is about their venom...

    The appeal of venom ??

Just out of curiousity whats the appeal of owning venomous snakes? I've only been in the game a few years so maybe it hasn't click in me yet. What don't snakes like?

Don't get me wrong, I like snakes. I grew up with lovely black snakes and tree snakes in NSW. The browns in Qld here are a little harder to love, but I investigated online and we've had success with steering them away from the house and yard by providing 'snake corridors' of low shrubs and...

Mount Warning Skink - ID please.

This skink is about one and a half times the size of Lampropholis delicata. The red mark behind the forelegs appears to be a natural coloration, and not an injury. The lizard is in the sub-tropical rainforest at Mount Warning, NSW. Please identify.
