I have been thinking about getting a bredli. I have done a some study about them, but every source i read has slightly different info...
So, a few questions.
1. what is the maximum size a bredli will get, and what is an average size of a adult?
2. generally do they have a good temper? good to handle?
3.adult enclosure size?
4. what is the average price for a hatchie?
I have a basic idea about all of these answers, but as i said: most of what i read is different from source to source.
Any answers will be much appreciated..
cheers untouchables

I think they grow a bit bigger than a diamond. A hatchy would cost around about $200 - $400 depends where u buy it from. Yes they do have a good temper and are great handlers.

Top notch hypos can go for $500, you can keep them in a 4x2x2 :)

I've got 2. They're both got completely different temprements. Bruce is like a "worm with teeth" so Ive been told:rolleyes: he's never bitten, never even tried, I am beginning to doubt he can!
Jada on the other hand.......hmmmmm.......how to describe her.........I've lost count how many times shes tagged me.......the word "b****" comes to mind! But she is beautiful, and only doing what snakes do naturally.
I've never had any other snake, so I've nothing to compare Bredlis too, but I love them, and Im looking forward to seeing them grow up.
Im preparing 160cm X 40cm X 90cm cabinets for them when they're fully grown.
Have fun :D

thanks for the reply, i hope i can get one

Easy to care for, forgiving and one of the larger carpets. Individuals vary, but they generally settle down as very placid snakes. A large female will grow to about 8 feet. My pair feed well, shed well, handle well and look good. Can't ask for much more!
PS - $200 - $400 is right for a normal one, although a striped or hypo will cost you more.

depends who you ask, but around the 9-10ft mark

2. generally do they have a good temper? good to handle?
generally yes, but as in all species there are exceptions. i've seen some angry bredli' before but not too often. they can be a bit snappy when very young but so are most other species. don't worry, they start to hurt untill around the 2yr old mark anyway:lol:

3.adult enclosure size?
not sure what the minimums will be when decc bring in the regs. 4x2x2 is pretty common for keeping these. just remember they do like to climb a little, especialy younger ones.

4. what is the average price for a hatchie?
around $300-$350, bit more for hypo's

from my dealings with them, they are one of the best pythons i've had the pleasure of keeping. i've got a 18mth old bredli at the moment that has never shown an once of aggression to anything but food.

Gday Untouchables, I have a couple of juvi Bredli (5 months old) so to answer your questions with my limited experience:

1. what is the maximum size a bredli will get, and what is an average size of a adult?
From what I've read average adult size is 2-2.5m, but I've only read of a few examples only slightly larger than that.

2. generally do they have a good temper? good to handle?
Both my male & female have a great temper. My male from day 1 has been the most placid snake I could have ever hoped for, very easy to handle, never once even looked like striking. My female is a little more nervous, has struck out only a couple of times (tagged once), but that was only removing her from the enclosure, once out she's the same as the male.

3.adult enclosure size?
Min 1m wide x 0.65m deep x 1.5m high. They are a semi arboreal snake, so a tall enclosure allows them climbing room.

4. what is the average price for a hatchie?
I paid $250 for the female & $260 for the male. This is for a Bredli "Classic". Other colour morphs (like hypo, for example) will obviously set you back more.
Hope this helps!

In addition, neither of my snakes has refused a feed. Since I've had the male (March 09) he's shed twice with no issues. I've had the female since early May 09 & she's coming into her first shed since I've had her, so we'll see how that goes.

Both my animals came from Snake Ranch, a reputable breeder & not too far from Newcastle so delivery or pickup shouldn't be a problem.

Hi, I,ve had 4 Bredli, got 2 atm. They're my favourite python. All mine have been very placid and great handlers, so I would definately recommend getting one.

I have two bredli's. My girl is about 15 months old and my new little man is only 2-3 months old. My girl is placid as, and my new mini man is a little chomping machine. But it's only early days, so he should settle down with more time I spend with him. But they are both beautiful and so glad I picked this type of snake.
