Hi everyone, i am incubating beardie eggs for the first time and noticed that 2 of the 13 eggs that are due to hatch anytime in the next week have patches on the chell which are almost clear. Is this a common occurance or is something wrong.

any advice would be appreciated.

thanx, Darren

thats normal, its the beardie trying to get out, you should see heads out very soon

Sort of I spose, just having no experience in real life makes it difficult. I have read a lot but never encountered this issue in text. So was curious to see if there was a problem, and if so whether i had done something wrong and whether I could do something to fix the problem if it was one.

They are called "windows" they are a mineral deficiency in the outer layer in the shell, your female may be getting old or needs a better diet / heating / UV exposure.. the bubs should hatch out ok though, BD hatchies rarely come out with any problems as the female parent usually bears the brunt of all mineral problems to create good eggs.
