Jonno I think your piont is of a proffessional appinion too but you pionted out that it was awile ago when you last spoke to them, they may have changed the rules since then. and also each state is different in there rules so don't discard cass's advice as wrong and ignorant.

thanks horenz, i am happy to have a friendly debate with differing opinions, but when it becomes nasty and i get told that im silly i just get a little frustrated and regret having even posted in the first place.

Personally, I think that once an animal goes into captivity it is no longer releasable but im willing to play he game and go along with the current way of thinking which is to make everyone feel nice and fuzzy inside and do catch, patch and release.

Ive released many animals back into "the wild" according to the letter of the dse rules
and ive euthanised them when its not practicle to release them, as is the law..
This is the way it should be to,
even though it would be great to absorb the wild caught "pest" snakes into the pet snake trade
it is thought it would be to hard to regulate / control and would leave another door open for
poaching etc.

Hey Cass i dont know nothing about releasing animals into the wild but i think your doing the right thing. You have saved his life, cleaned him up and letting him be free again. Its not his fault he was caught under a car, lost part of tail and ended up with burns (poor little guy) so it would be even less fair to make him live a life in captivity. Well done for being human and responsible about the whole thing!!
