Getting a jungle to strike

Hey guys I have a jungle hatchy and see feeds well but rarely strikes her rat normally I have to leave it in the tub.

Are there any methods or tricks to get them to strike there food or does it just come with size and confidence?

Hi Matt, Im no expert but its sounds like you've just got a shy eater there and there is no problem with leaving a thawed rat out for her, for a few hours while you leave her in peace to eat it. Just no glory of the hard strike!! You never know she may change?

Sorry i sounded like an ******* ahahah but if it is eating i think it is all good my black headed does the same he just goes up to it and sniffs and grabs whilst my water python goes crazy crazy.
If you want a method the only thing i could think of is have tongs and maybe shake it around to make it look like it is moving and it has to strike?

Haha she doesn't need to be taught she gets me all the time but when It comes to eating she seems intimidated by it not sure she doesn't even defensively strike it. I don't mind and I'm not worried it's just a pain standing there for 10 mins trying to get get to go it.

Should I just get her attention then just leave it with her or should i just be persistent?

Then again I am comparing her to my woma haha we all no how womas are with there food

Yeh sorry don't really want her to strike it but at least take it from the tweezers. I think it's just that she is so small and the fuzzie rats I have are fairly big.

Will buy smaller ones next time and see how she goes

yeah i just bought hatchies and the fella said feed them fuzzies they look a tad big for them.

Just get her attention and leave it with her i think is best in your case. The beer is only getting warmer if you try and dangle it for too long....

Only thing that comes to mind would be to dangle it and maybe bop her in the head with it a few times to try and agitate her a bit and she may strike at it. My jungle never used to strike but he eventually came round. Must just come with age and confidence I think.

yeh mate that is what i am thinking, from now on ill just give it a go get her attention and leave it. arm gets tired after 10 mins of dangling. good thing woma doesnt mess around
