Healthy Beardie suddenly gone :(

Hi all. My 7 month old beardie died today. Smeagle was very happy and healthy. He even had a check up at the vet 2 weeks ago. But suddenly on Friday, he stopped eating. I gave him his breakfast but he didn't eat it - very unusual for him. When I came home from work, it looked like he had thrown up. There was a big mess. He changed colour and went very lethargic. He was struggling to keep his eyes open. On Saturday morning I took him to the vet. The vet couldn't tell what was wrong with him but decided to keep him over the weekend so that they could give him antibiotics and fluids, and monitor him closely. This morning the vet called me and said he went downhill and they lost him. They couldn't tell me what was wrong with him.

Has this happened to any one else? I don't know what went wrong. Nothing changed. His food was the same, his temperature the same

Sorry to hear of your loss... This also happened to me a couple of years ago with 2 beardies who shared the same enclosure, I dont know what caused it...

Thanks. It is very sad. I have another beardie. She is 4 months old and seems pretty healthy. Hopefully she will be ok.

this sounds very similar to wat happened to my 2 at the end of last year

just crickets.

He ate a bowl of salad every morning - mixed types of lettuce leaves, green beans, brocolli, sprouts etc...

And when I came home from work I would give him crickets.

maybe the people you got your food from had sick insects, woodies and crickets are pretty bad for causing that sort of thing. what websites do you guys order from maybe its the same company?

I actually recently started buying crickets from a different place 2 weeks ago. I started to order in bulk from the 'the frogs.org.au store'

Im very sorry you lost your beardie, i know id be devastated if i lost mine. Hopefully you can get to the bottom of it.

wow i get from that frogs website but they seem ok to me? i bought 120 adults but then i bred them rather than feed them off as a long term money saver.

yeah i don't know if was the crickets because my other beardie has been eating them too and shes seems ok
