Hey guys,

I've just purchased myself a 6 bay timber enclosure- two stacks of three- and I was wondering what heating would be the best. At the moment I use plastic tubs for my reptiles with heat cords. As all the enclosures are the same size I was planning to run the left stack of three enclosures with one thermostat and the right stack of three enclosures with another thermostat. I was researching about ceramic heat emitters but if the thermostat fails or if the ceramic heater that the thermostat probe is connected to fails it could lead to a bad outcome for the three enclosures that it heats. Would it just be safer to have a heat cord running down through the three enclosures- I would put something over the heatcord so my pythons are not coming into direct contact with the heat cord though. At the moment I have pulse proportional thermostats but would be willing to buy the dimming thermostats if the recommendation is to use the ceramic heat emitters. Or would you recommend having a thermostat for each enclosure?

Any help or information is greatly appreciated :D

I have switching thermostats sorry!... was just reading up about pulse proportional so I had that in my head when I was talking about the thermostat I have at the moment

dont they have dual probe thermostats
if they do id use the ceramics with the dual probe and put a prob on the top and on the botom

i know they have dual probe thermometers but not sure about thermostats... will have to have a look although unsure how that would work?

the idea is to make one of the enclosures the clone and run the rest of of it but all really need to be the same size same heat source placed at same position ,then i suggest you run it for a week at least and tweek your thermo to suit .remember the clone should really be in the centre of the bank as the ones above may get warmer than the ones bellow havent seen many multi probe thermos out there i suggest a temp gun or you will be buying a lot of themometers good luck;):)

thanks- yeah i was planning to use the middle one to be used for controlling the temp- would you suggest the heat cord or the ceramic heat emitter?

I had never heard of a temp gun before- just researched about them and they seem pretty handy, definately a lot cheaper than buying a heap of thermometers. Thanks
