I recently got a beardie..inwhich turned into a fat crazy digging machine..
Trying to find incubator for last two days no luck or thier to far away..anyways,,she has had in last 1/2 hour 7 eggs..in a lay box of damp sand..can i leave them in her tank with her? All advice would be much appreciated:|

make one? poly box or esky with heatcord and thermostat?

Do you have a spare enclosure with a thermostat by any chance, you could put the tubs in a spare enclosure and set the temps accordingly.

Alternatively, as a last resort either leave them in if theres no choice (don't like your chances) or even put them in a vermiculite water mix (search the forums for 'vermiculite' more details) and put it on top of something warm like the hot water system (if you have an electric one thats indoors). The top of mine is always warm and would be the ideal spot for constant warmth if I was desperate and had no other heat source.

Hope the advice we gave you in chat helped for now, you should get by until you cant make an incubator using the method I suggested with the enclosure. Just remember, they are better being colder instead of hotter, they should be between 28-32 degrees, a few degrees less should be ok for a few days, but Not higher.

I can't see why you couldn't leave them where she puts them. Provided the enclosure is at correct temps and perhaps get a hygrometer to keep the humidity at the right level. They don't have incubators in the wild. Has anybody else ever let their lizards incubate and hatch their eggs themselves?

The only problem would be that in the wild they get the chance to look around for a place with the correct temps, if it is too cold or too hot, they will dig deeper or find a new place to lay, where as in captivity, they have what you give them.

How ever, for a few days, they should be fine in containers some where in the enclosure where it is approx 30 degrees.
