hi i have a hatchi diamond its got tape under its neck and i carnt get it off what do i do i carnt pull it off it will pull the scales off please help is there anything i can do.

i think ive heard before to bath it in some sort of water mic BUT DONT DO THIS until someone is abouslty certain

Bath it in luke warm water i guess then try and gently remove it like with strapping!

Soak your snake in warm water. You might need to use a heatmat to help keep the water warm but you need to soak him. The glue will slowly melt and you should be able to lift it off. I have also heard of vegetable oil being used also, to rub on the area which suppose to work like magic and doesn't take as long as does with just water.

Getting the tape off isn't gonna be a quick job. So be prepared to take as long as it needs, to get it all off. Might be best to get someone help you hold him. And take it slow peeling the tape. Might help to dab a cotton bud in the oil and very careful roll it over between the snake and the tape, careful not to pull his skin. He isn't gonna like the attention so be patient with him.

Wish you lived closer. I would have volunteered to help you.
Good luck.

Don't just pull it off.

Have you got an alcohol based hand wipe or something? You know the stuff you clean you hands with?

You need something to break down the sticking agent, and an alcohol bashed solution will do this. Get a cotton bud and SLOWLY dab at the edge of the tape and the snake's skin until the tape comes free and keep going until it is all removed.

Patience, it may be a slow job.

Give your snake a wipe over where the tape was stuck afterwards with a damp rag.

if its electrical tape just rub vegie oil on it (but check about the vegie oil)
dont heat it up to much ether it will make it a lot worse

I have used olive oil to get baby browns of one of those sticky mice trap things. It worked a treat, you have to wait and let it soak in though and as someone else said dont pull the tape off but carefully work it off, otherwise you will get scale damage

Use olive oil and gently work it under the sticky side of the tape, be very gentle and patient
so as not to rip scales of the poor little bugger.

NOW HOW THE HELL DID THE SNAKE GET ACCESS TO TAPE IN THE FIRST:evil: PLACE

yeah use vegie oil or olive oil. it will kill the glue and it will just slide right off!

thats what got me puzzled where did it come from??:?

thanks everyone for the good replies i used vege oil and it slide off with no damage to her scales she was very placid no biting wat so ever.cheers thanks everyone

I personally would have the bath tub with a little bit of luke warm water in it, enough so where the snake moves it will remain in the water but if it wishes it's head or upper body be out it can rest on the sides of the tub this should help keep stress to a minimal level. In the bath I would add a little amount of shed ease.

a soak in warm water should soften the glue enough that the olive oil can get right under it just be very slow and steafy and as suggested above an extra set of hands wouldn't go astray unfortunately i am to far away to help in the flesh to good luck with it though keep us posted

if you get some cotton buds and some metho and gently soak the tape off. this is ok to do as we use it as a spray on surgical sites, to sterilise them(reptiles included)
