Help with escapee (snake)

Hi, I hope you all had a good and safe new years any ways I have a problem with my MD and a friends Queensland Coastal both are the same in length but ours is alot fatter.

The problem we are having is the coastal keeps getting into our MD's side of the enclosure. No matter what we do and how we secure it is she will find a way in getting into our MD's side.

Our MD was in a large enclosure that needed to be divided so we could put the coastal on the other side (long story).

What I am trying to get at is can they live togther like this in the same enclosure? Will our MD try and hurt (kill) her? Shoot and if there is anything else please let me know. If they can live togther how do we go about feeding them? We can take the portion out to make it one big enclosure if they can live together.

I have included 2 pics one of them together in the tank and the other what the tank looks like. Size of enclosure is 900 high X 460 wide X 650 long.

while it might work out ok, you need to know there is the risk that one will eat/kill the other.

i have 2 young female bredli together atm,...for feeding i take them out to feed (at teh same time but in seperate trees)

and give them both a bath to get rid of any rodent smell before they go back in the enclosure.

don't house them together. how old are they, 90 x 46 x 65 is not big enough for 1 adult

I would suggest a coastal and an MD would have different needs in terms of temps etc. I'd wanna keep the separate. As for the divider, there must just be a a gap it's able to push through. Can you get some details photos please? How exactly is it secured in there? Are those doors able to be pushed out enough to squeeze round the front?

Not the greatest of ideas to let them stay together...

especially if they are male & female being that they're
different species.

Also doesn't seem like the caostal is over enthused about being there.

Perhaps transfer them into totally seperate enclosures.

i would also recommend a bucket of hot soapy water followed by a good dose of F10 and some fresh newspaper

Definately sounds like you need to get a new enclosure or part with one of your snakes if you can't house them properly.

Unfortunately my opinion would be to seperate them. They look uncomfortable in the inclosure and there is nowhere they can hide from each other. I think it will be only a matter of time before something dreadful happens.

If you do decide to keep them together, maybe put in a platform and a couple of hide boxes and get a larger water bowl.

p.s. before taking pics to post on here i would advise you to give the enclosures a clean. Otherwise your gonna get some critisisim about the way you keep your snakes. I've seen worse than that but it's not gonna stop alot of the people talking about it.

it should be talked about the enclosure is GROTTY and unsafe for BOTH snakes they cant get away from the filth so as their keeper its YOUR responsibillity to clean and make it hygenic ...sick of people wrapping some threads up in cottonwool all for the sake of not upsetting the human involved ,this is a reptile forum and if most of us that keep them see this state the snakes are living in which is disgusting then we have the right to comment about it for the snakes sake that cant tell their keepers your housing me in CRAP!:evil:

Yep Tank was grotty and YES it has been cleaned today ..... There was no excuse and not fair to them but hey we all make mistakes but there is right way and a wrong way of doing things. I came in to ask a question no to be abused!!!!!

We didn't like the idea of the coastal in with the our MD.

The coastal is a friend of ours that needed to move out of his home and therefore it was a quick solution not a permanent solution. When you get a knock on the door at midnight and are asked for help well you help don't ya!!! New enclosure is being built as we speak but in the mean time if she keeps getting in to our MD's side I'm hoping she will be okay.

I'm sorry if I sound rude but hey I made a mistake and it's been fixed, clean tank and new one being built.

if it"s only temp, go and buy the largest click clack you can get and keep it in the enclosure for heat, or get a heatmat. it will stop them getting to each other, they cost about $15-20 at kmart

Normally our MD has fully roam of his tank where the two doors meet thats were the divider is and hopefully the other tank will be set up and ready to go by the weekend. Both sides of the tank has its own heat light and thermostate it's only been the last few days that she has been getting in there.
