If your woma's tail starts wiggling like crazy when your holding it ........your in trouble :D .

Get into a routine of double/triple checking you porperly locked all enclosures after opening them, an extra minute or so checking, can save you a lot of time and stress, should you have an escape.

Be extremely careful using this method in summer as enclosed tubs will heat up quicker than you think and can kill your animals within minutes.

yes, forgot to add details. I have my sister nurse the box, and as i only have 2 small enclosures it takes me 5-10mins outside. I imagine it would be different for people with larger collections

1.) Use newspaper as a substrate, it's cheap & easy to clean.
2.) Mix your feeding regime up, wild snakes don't eat a lab raised rat every 7 days. Try rats, mice, chickens, quail and for adult snakes, vary the feeding intervals.
3.) Fresh water, did I say fresh water? Replace water regularly, scrub your water bowls out each time you refill and don't mix water bowls with other snakes.
4.) Keep your enclosure clean, if the substrate (which will now be newspaper) is soiled, replace it and if necessary clean the enclosure.
5.) Every now and then, take everything out of the enclosure and give it a good scrub down with a suitable disinfectant like F10.
6.) Don't treat your snakes like a 'party starter' ie don't take them out of their enclosures to show off to your mates, handle them appropriately and that means not within 48 hours of a feed.
7.) Finally, if you are new to keeping herps and aren't sure about anything ask. Don't worry about getting flamed by asking what others may think is a noobee question, ask away. If you're still a little hesitant PM an experienced APS member, most of us are happy to answer any herp question, after all we all started at the beginning.

If a snake has latched onto you, and won't let go, stick it's head underneath the cold tap, and it will eventually let go.
