Hi all

My family and our collection of reptiles & amphibs (5 snakes (carpet yearlings), 4 shingles, 1 bluey, 2 bearded dragons and 5 frogs) will soon be relocating from Brisbane to Sydney. Apart from the licencing requirements, I am more interested in the best way to physically move them, as they will be in the back of the wagon we are driving down in, over a couple of days. For example:

Would the snakes, bluey and shingles be OK in individual calico bags, kept in a couple of large ventilated plastic boxes?
Any suggestions on the best way to move the dragons and frogs, to keep them from getting too stressed?

Naturally I will keeping them as protected as possible from temp swings and the like. They will be moving back into their enclosures after a couple of days.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Cheers

Calico bags and plastic boxes with some shredded newspaper is the way I transported my blueys and am planning for my snake, I had no problem with it, it should be fine. Dragons should be fine like that too I think.

Plastic tubs have a tendency to act like hot houses if your not careful, another option would be to use and eski instead.

The snakes and lizards should be fine as others above have already said with calico bags/boxes etc. The frogs might be the only hard one. I remember how hard it was moving the animals into our new house especially with my frogs, and they were only being moved from one house to another in a few hours from pack up to set up. I put my frogs in a plastic tub with air holes around the top of the sides, and put a small amount of water covering the floor so they wouldn't dry out. I couldn't put anything like rocks/sticks etc for them to hide and climb on in as I didn't want them moving in transit and hurting the frogs. They will try and push open lids, so I suggest a click lid or using rubber bands to hold lids shut, they are escape artists!! I kept a towel covering up the container during transit as they freaked a little being so out in the open during daylight, it also kept them warmer too. They seemed to settle well and slept most of the time until their tank was set up again.

I haven't travelled this far with animals so I hope this was some help, good luck with the move. Hopefully someone else has some tips for you.
