Hi guys and girls, my murray darling has been spending the last week soaking in his water bowl. The enclosure temp is between 22 and 28 max but for some reason he is spending all his time in the water. He is breeding age and healthy, I am unsure if this is normal activity for this time of year. any suggestions? Cheers Simon.

There have been a few threads about this recently. The only time I've seen my Bredli soaking is pre-shed, but other posted responses have been due to high temperatures or snake mites. Do a search for other threads on soaking & see what comes up, perhaps you'll find your answer there.

I prefer a warmer temp in the basking spot - perhaps 32 degrees. Do you see any little black dots in the water? Mites look like a bit like pepper to the naked eye.

My male Murray takes a swim every now and again. He doesnt soak though,he only submerges the first few inches of his head and body, but he spends a good few minutes looking around the inside of his water bowl.
