he only ate 3 woodies today.

I realised he does not bask as much and when I get close to him he shuts his eyes. As cute as that is, it worries me.

Basking temp is at 35-37C using a 40W bask lamp. Should I replace with a 50-60W globe to up the temp to about 39-42C.

Worried again!!

yes, I use a external thermo with probe that sits on his basking branch\rock. Should I set it to 40C?

Temperatures on thermostats are not 100% accurate to what temps you will have on your hot side/basking etc, they are a guide.
It depends also on things like where your probe is, where the globe is and how far above the basking spot it is, the amount of ventillation in the tank etc
You have to keep an eye on the temps to get it right
Use an indoor/outddor thermometer or something that you can measure the temps at both ends.

Play with the settings slightly on the thermo until you get the right temps at either side.

Too hot on cold side but right on hot side means not enough ventilation through the cool side and visa versa....
