I am not sure why she bit you, but when it comes to feeding, go by the size of the body and not the head.
Your pet snake will most probably bite you sooner or later esp when it comes to feeding, it is part of being a snake owner.
A bite from them doesn't really hurt much.....so I am sure you will get over it...
prey should be a little bigger than the thickest part of the snake, or you can weigh her and feed prey that is a certain % of her body weight is, but i cant remember the percentage, cos i use the 'thickest' guide,
There is an article on this in Reptiles Australia mag, Vol 5 Issue 4, which I have used as a guide to feeding.
There is someone selling this issue cheap in the for sale section atm.
I fed her a rat about 1 square cm bigger than the width of her thickest part and at first I was stressing out about the size as it turned out to be an entire third larger than what she has eaten in the past and she seemed a little bit stretched. I kept checking her worrying that she might have been having trouble but she ate it all up and three days later, there isnt even a lump anymore! Jesus! Haha
So relieved. I would never have considered feeding her something that size without your help guys.
Thank you so much
I personally wouldn't go too huge....go by it's girth....
You never know what strain it puts on the heart.....yeah I know they do it in the wild.....but who knows how many die in the wild.
This is just my opinion...there are many/much more experienced people on here that may tell you different.
