Hi all,

Im just wondering if anyone has heard about whether or not the state government in NSW is planning to pass legislation any time soon in reguards to commercial sale of reptiles. Any information anyone has would be greatly appreciated because i have searched the web extensively and not been able to find anything on the subject.

Thanks,
Keith

This topic I am pretty sure has been brushed aside at the moment whilst they deal with more important issues. But of course the only ones who can really answer this is them. Perhaps drop them an email or phone call.

All I can suggest is that you look at http://www.legislation.nsw.gov.au/ if you havent already. There is a contact number on there somewhere that you could ring and ask if you cant find anything on the website. I havent heard anything about it myself so i dont think it's going to happen any time soon.

if that was going to be the case they would have to do the same for frogs, because that would be unfair not to pass it for amphibians as well, but wouldn't that mean that unexperienced reptile owners could easily buy type two or three animals and kill them because of lack of experience, isn't that half of the reason why reptiles and amphibians have been licensed? along with keeping track of illegal trade.

I have heaps of rumours about it, but as i said only rumours so far

Normal Licence restrictions will still apply and only a small number of 10-15 species will be available through retail and no amphibians are on this "list" at the moment and in all likelihood won`t be.

It won`t be happening this year.
