I feel terrible, I’ve been away from home a lot the past few months so I haven’t been handling / checking her physical condition regularly. I have discovered some discolouration on her scales, it looks pretty bad but not oozing or anything, it’s dry and I’m worried it might be scale rot, or something else I don’t know about. She is about 11 years old and I have had her since she was small. This hasn’t happened before so I’m quite concerned.
I will most likely take her to the vet but it’s hard to get to and I don’t know how great their snake knowledge will be. So I’m hoping you guys can give me some advice on what is wrong and how I can help her get better. Thank you
(It was a bit difficult to get good photos but hopefully these are clear enough - I’ll also attach a video)
Additional info
- I’m fairly certain it’s not due to humidity
- her terrarium may have been too hot/dry - because we have both a light and heat mat during winter and didn’t turn one off early enough as the weather started getting warmer (the light is elevated off the top so she shouldn’t be able to get too close)
- the terrarium wasn’t cleaned very well while I was away
