I don't know if this is a stupid idea or not but I know when it rains heavy or they do something in the area to do with the water pipes or when they added fluoride to the water it tasted funny/bad (assuming your on town water). Could it be that something like this may have occurred? You would probably have noticed. Also maybe if you soaked (or injected?) your thawed meal in/with some water. Sorry hopefully someone more experienced can give you some tips.

Meehan - To ensure my animals are well hydrated I change their water bowls every other days and I feed them rodents that are still fairly damp from the thawing process...

Out of interest, which side of your enclosure is your snake tending towards? I read an article this morning on hydration and tiger snakes and it was found that dehydrated tiger snakes would often spend a lot of time in 'thermal depression' to conserve water, prefering the cool end of the spectrum... It'd be interesting to know if yours behaved in the same way, or if it's specific to tiger snakes...

Good to see there was nothing "major" wrong with your snake. Please make sure you keep fresh water avalible at all times and give your snake a bath every 2 weeks or so. You are very luck as there has been cases where the animal was too dehydrated and had to end up getting put down due to the major organs shutting down from lack of hydration.

i wonder why one eye went before the other... that is strange... well goes to show that you should always go with your gut.
now refill water often. daily, or at least every second day. rinse the bowls out thoroughly also. give him the opportunity to drink running water (straight out of a freshly filled glass) i often find that if i am having a drik of water with monty out, he will have one with me out of my glass.

Dehydration can occur over a month? You said the first eye started to get a sunken appearance a month ago?
