Hello!
Me again, i'm taking my daimond python into the vet tomorrow because he has finished his worm and parasite med's... (long story short - my first snake, realy hearty, been threw heaps, had him for years, used to take him for walks at the oval, he might of even eaten a few pigeons before i got really interested in snakes and found out it is illegal. and for good reason to. for example - wild animals cary mites and parasites that infect reptiles, hence the vet)

so being i'v had this fella for ages, and the beguining of his life was pretty hard going for a poor little guy (about 6ft now) he has progressed well. with a 6 foot enclosure he has fell a few times, and has a few lumps and hard spots as battle scars. (i used to appologise to him dayly) but now i know better. much better - all my snakes see vet on a regular basis, enclosures are pristine, records are kept for anything and everything (the missus hates me) and handling is kept to a minimum.

i will be asking the vet about joe's (the diamond) poo tomorrow, but ill post something here first incase it helps/interests anyone.

He just did a poo, before shedding, (his eyes were cloudy from the 24/1/09 - 2 piece shed) all the poo was of normal coulor, but seperate from the brown/white was what looked like a pale white sack, with orange things/stuff inside that are rock hard. the sack had a bit of blood on it, and what looked to be small feint vaines (like in your eye) running across it. Also one side tappered of like a tail (not like a 'tail')

It didn't seem to bother him, and he seems healthy/happy as ever?

PS:: this is the same guy i posted a problem about eye specticle not coming off...
It just came off in this shed!

in 8 years of keeping pythons i have never seen a poo like that.

thats a head scratcher ...let us know what the outcome is ...sort of looks embryonic...but like you said its a HE ...bit alien looking ..got me intrigued now ..goodluck..

ouch!

doesn't look good. could it be a parasite passing (cyst)? Can you post more photos?

let us know what it turns out to be.

sorry borrowed a mates phone cameraa to take that, dont have a camera myself.

he does have lumps the vet had said could be cyst's or calsafied lumps around broken ribs from falls.... he has/had 4, havnt handled him to check - he shed at same time...

lumps

Hey guys, I gently took him out this morning, to check and do a lump count... as said - he had 4. now he hass 2? maybe he pooped out a tuma or something?

going to the vet at 2.00pm

i've seen this before, someone else on aussie pythons started a tread on the same thing at least a year ago, the thing in the pic looks identical if you do a bit of searching through the treads you may find out what it is.

So you have forgotten then?

Interesting, I will be watching.

Is it common for a snake to fall?

Falling

It is not COMMON for a snake to fall. but it does happen. The 2 branches he was trying to cross were too far apart, and he didnt always make it. (I rectified this problem with a fake vine between the two).

That is very interesting,as suggested,it does look like a cyst or tumour that he has passed out. Please keep up informed on what it is.

Oh, my, god...

Ok, it's been sent off for histology analasys, apparently no one at the exotic vet had ever seen anything like it before...

But, the vet has confirmed one of his lumps are gone. so we think its a growth, but from where and what we don't know. the histo. will tell us what its made of, and what part of the body the sack tissue (which was a living part of flesh) came from.

This will take untill next week, but the vet was going to help get it sped along, because they are curious...

But main thing is - joe is healthy as ever, and it is not effecting him :)

(nasty info from vet - a reptile can try to push it's faecal mater out so hard, it will pass a kidney... or part of intestine etc... guess thats like a hernia?)

Will update ASAP!

Can you post a pick of joe?? It's just that you were talking about his numerous scars and poor treatment at an earlier age and I wanted to see how he looks now (seing as people are only ever posting pics of their "perfect" prized snakes). Cheers

joe now

no worries seumas, but being his just shed he looks pretty good. i'll get a camera and have some posted tonight.

there is a pic of him in the gallery, but i think its a close up of my avatar

I wondered if he was a she and it was some kind of phantom gravid thing but I guess the vet would have seen THAT before as would many APS members. So about a week huh, well good luck and I'm still watching and waiting......
