Have a question for anybody to help me with. I have made my own enclosure, it is 1750mm long x 900wide x 750 high. A person at a reptile shop said I will need 3 x 100watt heat lamps. A friend with reptiles said I only need two x 75watt. I will be putting a bredli in this enclosure and want make sure it is right to start with, no changes half way through, if you know what I mean. H E L P ! ! ! !:oops::oops::evil::?:?:?

Depends on room temps.Cold room more watts, warm room less watts.

My house is ducted heated, averaging 21c. just want to get it right the first time. So the question still remains should I use three at 100watt? suppose if I use three it will heat up quicker, just have to have a good theromstat. maybe two thermos, one to bring temp up and one for night time settings.:p:lol:

It's hard to say, particularly in Healesville there's quite a difference in summer (up to 40C outside) and winter temps (down to 0C outside) so you'll need to be able to heat well in winter if you want to keep it warm. Put in enough fittings that you will be able to have enough globes, then get some globes and get a thermometer and make sure the temps are what you want at the hot and cold end. Unfortunately with big enclosures it's sometimes just a matter of having a play around until you're happy with the temps.

they recommend 3 in case one blows, you have backups. in a room of 21'c you could probs get away with 2 40-60watts. i have herd good thing about the Repti-Radiator on herpshop. they are a bit costly to start with, but ends up cheaper in the long run, because you dont need to change globes :) check them out, im planning on getting one ;)

Its very difficult to say how much heat you will need as each situation is different from the next although 300W does seem excessive as well as dangerous should the thermostat fail to me.

As an example our enclosures are 1200x600x800 and are all heated using one 50W globe each.
