i clean it once a week but soon as there is poo in there i will get that out and then do a full change every sunday its on a heat mat that is on around 29-30 dagrees

Don't know too many people that clean their click clacks weekly. Seems a bit silly, getting a small snake out daily (for no reason if it doesn't need to be cleaned?), just stressing it out more...

Woma, need to see some pics. Try not to stress her out too much in the meantime.

Okay guys so far any time a person has a problem with a reptile people start shouting vet surely there are people on here that are a far better referance than a vet. I have taken my woma to 3 places to get it checked for health and sex and so far I've been told that they have no idea I would much prefer to get answers from experienced people on here rather than vets, personal preferancd I guess

The problem is that people on here think they are more knowlegable than a vet and will give false and misleading advice. How are you meant to pick through the intelligence and the crap when you don't even know what the problem is yourself?

I don't understand why when people have problems with their animals why they spend more time sitting on the computer than studying the animals condition?

the reason i clean mine everyday is to avoid situations like this....it only takes 2 mins whats the harm......i get all my snakes out everyday anyway and they arent stressed they love it.....

Cleaning once a day is nonsence. I doubt anyone would bother nor should they. They're not dirty everysingle day, they don't deficate that often and if you had a few it's be very time consuming and a waste of resources.

mate............it definately sounds like scale rot to me.
Get some Betadine from your local chemist and apply to effected area's
twice a day [ morning and even are the best times ], no need to dillute it.
keep an close eye on it......but this treatment should take care of it.
Batril 50 is the next option..........but only if the betadine fails due to the infection being
to far in advance.
Good luck.
Aleks.

That's your opinion, of course, but telling everyone that they should clean all their snakes out daily is silly. Some people have more then just a handful of animals to look after.

u know this is what ***** me bout this forum u try and give some people a little bit of advice...and u get shot down all the time.....i clean my click clacks out pretty much daily because whenever i open them the paper towel in the bottom is normally wet from urine etc..im not telling u all to clean them once a day its just waht i do.....anyway once again thread has gone off topic due to some ********.......hope all goes well mate with ya snake hope i comes good..

Yes, vet trip. I had a similar occurrence with an olive, angry red blisters on his ventrals. It was a dermal infection but Doc did not seem to think it was scale rot. Reptile Doc gave me some Silvazene (sp) cream and olive required an injection of Fortrum every 3 days for 6 weeks which I administered. Came good which was a relief.

Yes, cleaning daily seems a bit excessive but so long as you clean out the snake business as it happens and disinfect once in a while, you should be fine. I switched to Breeder's Choice from newspaper after this incident as the newspaper isn't absobant enough for larger snakes. Good luck with it and make a point of finding a vet who deals with reptiles. You can try contacting a local zoo for advice on where to find one.
