from the sound of thing you are not experienced enough to breed your snakes yet, the things your asking you should know this type of stuff already, spend the next 18 months learning whats -what & you will have the info you need.. good luck with your snake getting it up to size, your carpet should be around the 2 1/2 kg mark before you even try.. tony

Yes I know reptiles are different but what you are proposing is like having two twelve year old kids couple up and have a child. It may be able to happen physically but in maturity it's not be the best thing. Let the animal get up to size and mature a bit.

Whats the hurry anyway if your friends are really that interested in reptiles they will fork out the money to buy their own rather than wait for a freebie.

I had an aquaintance who seemed interested and always offered to give one of my childreni a good home so I in the end I offered him one for free. The only condition was that he had to have a fully set up and operating enclosure first. Turns out he wasn't that interested after all.

Orangesnake - Troy K and Glimmerman are spot on.

I do have some concerns regarding your thoughts that your snake WAS fat and has suddenly had a growth spurt - GENERALLY this is not how it works...

Snakes will (generally) grow in length first and then starting putting on girth.

look mate i'm as puzzeled as you are. and by the sounds of it their is NO way she should be this small.

don't worry i have getting all thoughts of breeding her out of my head untill at least 2012.

the problem is that although you don't need a licence to keep ONE animal clased as basic (most pythons excluding scrubbie) you do need one to buy a animal fom a pet store and i am the only one they know who actually owns a snake. i'm not in to much of a hurry anyway i told them i will give a baby to them when she breeds

also i do know a bit about breeding them like that they should be 3-4 years+ and 2-3 kg + its just that i don't know how to convert that into length

oh sorry i do have one possible theory why she may be a bit small, could something have gone wrong within her egg i do remember hearing that it was her mothers first time and the origenal breeder said the mother had a popped egg inside her and she was very sick.
might be wrong but just putting it out there
