I currently own a blue tongue skink.

It's roughly about 7 months old.

When I bought it, I noticed it had what looked like a bite mark on it's tail.

It always ate fine ... Didn't seem to bother it.

Recently it's stopped eating. I've tried giving it EVERYTHING that blue tongue skinks can eat and still. It wont eat.

I've linked some pictures of it to see if anyone can give me some ideas on what this tail bite(?) could be.

Zoom in for a better view.

Looks like a shed issue.

The Bluey has had shed stuck around that part of it's tail and has constricted the tail causing what you see.

bath the fella in warm water every day until you can get that skin off! other wise you will loose the tail. it will just drop off from lack of circulation to the tail. so i would do that asap!

Is there a possibility of the lizzards health been affected by the toxins that may have built up in the tail due to lack of circulation? I know there is with humans, or is there not enough pressure for that to be an issue?

That tail issue has been there since it was a baby.

Could it be anything else apart from shedding issue?

Unless there's a knotted rope, it doesn't look like it. I was under the impression that blue tounges could regenerate their tales? Albeit a little more stubby.

The issue with people is that when the blood flow is cut off at the femeral arterie ( the groin region)then is allowed to flow again any toxins that have built up then rush back to the heart and can kill you quite quickly. I learnt this doing height and harness licensing so when i fall off a roof i wont die from hitting the ground ,i will then die when they rescue me and release the harness, Can i sue when im dead...?

The eating could just be a seasonal thing..... especially if the Bluey is not a Melbourne locale..... some will eat all winter & some will eat nothing.... pretty much all of them will eat a bit less.... looks like the skin has gone now but if not make sure it has. I'd then warm the little guy up giving him the option of a 35degree warm spot with a hide & some substrate to bury in if you havn't already & then leave him alone for a week or so & he should eat a bit..... beef mince generally works !!!
