Nothing like a good healthy debate about "religion". I should have specifically said christianity, and if you decide to discuss further please be specific about which "branch" of christianity you are talking about, ie. catholic, protestant, morons (oops sorry, thats mormons), jehovah's witness, etc... I mean, you wouldn't want to get them mixed up, it is just that "mixing up" of the specific "branches" that has made christianity look so bad. There is only one true christianity, the others are fakes, as was said by Jesus Himself:
"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." Matthew 7:13-14
You can't judge christianity by the masses because most of them have decieved themselves, they are on a path that leads to a place they don't want to go.
By the way, I am not preaching to anyone, I have said it before and I'll say it again, Each to his own.

RAZZA, these people harass and pressure people into following their beliefs, it is exactly that kind of behaviour that has given christianity a bad name, just like the catholics and others of the past. And I was not talking about them as individuals, I was talking about the belief system they have, I will publicly apologise right now for making that statement. You are correct it was uncalled for and irresponsible.

Some religions are beneficial in some way or another, however only one can hold the truth, which one is up to you to decide. Also, most people don't like to think this, but Evolution is also a religion, it is a belief system, and believe me evolution has done its fair share to hurt people as much as other religions, the first thing that comes to mind is racism, and a side effect of that is what happened to the Aborigines, being called the "missing link", lesser formed humans than others! That makes my blood boil.

Well put oh wrangler of snakes.. yes this i know what they do.. along with others....but that is their way we cannot be grudge them this as this is all they know,but as most do say no thanks and close the door......yes the holy roman church has much to answer for in all parts of the world.. they have treated most others as being sub human... why ??? when does not the bible state man is made equal ???? then why has the church etc treated others as less...???? or is it some are more equal than others ???
which then can go on for ages perhaps it is right the church is only a club like any club with a group of like minded people getting together.....but then it does say you can do as much can you not at home ???

Why have the catholic church and others treated other people as not equal, I don't know, but they are wrong to do it, and this is NOT what the bible teaches, the bible teaches that all mankind is equal. This among many many reasons prove that they cannot be part of the true church.
The "church" in not a gathering together of a group of people, this is not what the true church is, the true church is made up of people who follow and obey the teachings of Jesus Christ (God) as they are written, not as they are interpreted. It has nothing to do with the gathering of people, it is true that the church gathers together, but the gathering of people is not the church (if that makes sense to you).

I keep snakes because I like them, they are God's creation as are all others, there is nothing evil about snakes and anyone who thinks there is has some major problems.

To be honest I thought evolution was the belief that we just appeared??? I believe that we were created, placed here on purpose and not by chance.
Anyway, people interpret the physical evidence (fossils, etc...) in many ways, you appear to be under the impression that "science" says that evolution is "fact", but science makes no such distinction, nor can it, people who use science to explore possibilities interpret the results of such exploration according to their own "bias" or belief system, there are scientists (real, qualified, awarded for their skills as scientists), that interpret the data and can explain how it fits with the biblical account of the creation and history of this world, there exists even those that were evolutionsts who set out to prove the bible wrong only to convert to a belief in it because of the evidence found. I feel sorry for people who think that science proves evolution, you should really explore both sides of the fence, you might be suprised at what you find.
There are many flaws in the evolution theory, I am not saying that we are perfect over here on the other side, but all I hear is people talking as though evolution has been proven without a doubt, I really wish people would at least take a shallow look into these matters before raving about something they have been taught to be true from people around them.
I am not saying you haven't looked into it, but you speak as though it is common sense to believe in evolution, when really you have to go outside of the sensible boundaries to believe that all of a sudden for no reason at all, purely by chance the universe was formed.
And hears one for you, I don't believe in evolution but I do believe in the big bang??

interpretation of man of the writings of the bible is another matter..that is where all the splinter groups have come from have they not ???also i have heard there are dead sea scrolls which have not been printed as it will change many things ??? man has grabbed whatever suits him... and has read this as being this....pity sounds like the guys from monty python sitting around grabbing bits from here and there..
and for discussing others.. well this would gone on for many hours and this is not really the place for it.. just wanted to know why you narrowed way down even within the christian belief,as to what belief you have or follow...

A single snake was inhabited by satan to deceive eve, because of this God cursed the snake and made it move around on its belly from then on (yep, I do believe that snakes once had legs), this was the extent of their curse, noweher in the bible does God state they are evil, he uses them it metaphores for evil and satan is called a serpent, because of this event at the beginning of time, the snakes I have in my lounge room are no more evil then the two golden retrievers I have out the back.
