Hi, i have recently bought a pair of womas and having trouble getting one of them feeding. She has fed 4 times proir to me picking her up but now shows no interest in food at all.

Have tried all the usual methods scenting, braining, teasing etc and have tried to assist feed her a few times with no luck, she spits the rodents out and hides every time.

Normally i am not worried but when a small snake has lost 20% of her body weight which started at only 48g i am worried she will turn bad quickly. Not sure if assist feeding is really required at the moment, but i am hoping it will kick start the feeding respnse again.

What i am after is for those who have had to do it, how often or how many times do you need to attempt it before they will usually accept the prey item? I am only trying every 4-5 days, last attempt she was left for 9 days.

Any suggestions?

A Woma having feeding problems, never heard of that. Are you trying to feed it the same food source, rats or mice.Have you spoken to the person you got it from...

pythons73, feeding same type and size of rodent as she was before i got her, have tried mice also. Waiting to hear back from seller but they are aware of the problem.

woma not eating

you don't mention temps at all, they could be the reason.....most womas are now 3-4 months old, so anything up to 10-15 feeds l thought would be average by now, l believe on the information supplied there is something not adding up..1.temps up to 33 during the day and 26 at night dry bed and a small bowl of water and MOST womas are eating machines....cheers solar 17 [Baden]...ps l have sent you a PM

Good point baden, should have included that. They are in a tub rack that i used to get all my young snakes up and going. Hot ends between 32-34 and cool side sits around 26-27, sometimes a little more depending on ambient temps. Hides and waterbowl in tub, paper towel substrate and a little bit of shredded paper on one side of the hot end that both the womas like to hide in when basking.

This setup has worked perfectly for childrens, coastals and bredli until they grew out of the tubs so i will be puzzled as to why it wouldn't work for these guys, well it is working well for the male anyway, he is now moving into a v35 tub.
